SIM PURCHASE / WELCOME BACK
Nigerian government has removed the ban on purchase and activation of new sim cards, this ends an embargo that has lasted almost five months.
Starting from 19 April, 2021, Nigerians would be able to buy, activate, and register new sim cards from the telecommunication companies.
This announcement was made by the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy on Thursday.
In their statement, the selling of new sim and other activities that were suspended since 9th December, would resume on the said date.
This embargo really affected a lot of Nigerians especially those that came back from oversea and foreigners inclusive, as this embargo made it difficult for them to access sim cards for phone calls and internet.
The statement still made it clear that NIN (National Identity Number) is very compulsory as part of sim registration and activation.
